Officer Specialty Training

OST is ideal for working security officers who wish to enhance their professional experience. Building upon the OBT level of training and the 40 hours of Basic Protection Officer course work and an additional 5-7 hours of training customized for specialty area. The instruction develops the existing knowledge base by providing a standard approach to the numerous tasks required of the security practitioner. The information presented is taken from time proven, safe methods and ensures officers have the professional skills to carry out the important mission of protecting people, property, and information. This career track covers a diversity of topics in a user-friendly format. The courses are delivered on-line or in CD-ROM format.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Basic Protection Officer course and the Officer Basic Training Program or Basic Protection Officer course and three months full time protection experience (or equivalent law enforcement/military experience)


Homeland Security Specialty Program

The Homeland Security Specialist track is designed to meet the training needs of professional security officers, especially for anyone seeking to increase their awareness and understanding of the threat to our homeland.

Physical Security Specialty Program

The Physical Security Specialist track is recommended for contract and proprietary protection officers seeking understanding and awareness of physical security concepts such as planning and conducting surveys, security plans, and access control measures.

Public Events Specialty Program

The Public Events Specialist track characterizes the challenges officers must consider in the areas of security, terrorism and critical incident management.

Retail Loss Prevention Specialty Program

The Retail Loss Prevention Specialist track addresses the challenging protective functions that expose an officer to physical risks and legal liability in retail security.
