Entry Level Protection Officer

The field of security offers diversity, challenges, and rewards. The subject of professionalism is one of the most important aspects of security. You will also need to develop public relations skills. You will learn about legal authority and liabilities, including the use of reasonable force, arrest and detention procedures, how to make an arrest and the factors associated with search and seizure. You will be given an overview of the duties and functions of a protection officer that include protecting people from injuries and situations where they may occur. You will be taught to recognize and properly handle hazardous materials and emergency procedures. The purpose, function, and limits of access controls will be explained, including the significance of adhering to established systems in place. The importance of recognizing, preventing and extinguishing different types of fires will be presented and include the procedures for directing fire department vehicles. You will learn about different types of patrols, how to prepare for and conduct patrols, and techniques for critical observation. The importance of note-taking and writing accurate reports will be studied. Aspects of first aid for responding to emergency situations, how to recognize and address levels of consciousness and how to monitor vital signs will be addressed.
